Emergency services scrambled as man fails to return to shore on time
LYME Regis Coastguard rescue team and the town’s RNLI inshore lifeboat were scrambled to search for a missing dingy sailor yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).
The man had rowed out of Charmouth in the open inflatable and had not returned when expected, sparking the emergency alert at around 12.45pm.
A number of other vessels responded to a radio call from Portland Coastguard and were preparing to join in the search when the man returned and was reunited with his wife.
