Parking meters ‘driven visitors away’

29 empty spaces on part of seafront on Easter Sunday.
ON Easter Sunday afternoon, beautifully warm and sunny, I counted 29 empty parking spaces on Seaton seafront between Beach Road and the kiosk opposite Burrow Road (not the whole of the seafront).
This suggests to me that, for the sake of a few pounds collected via the parking meters from those who did park there, Devon County Council has successfully driven away many more.
On a lovely day at the weekend every space used to be taken.
