Honiton’s beat manager forced to quit in spending review shake-up.
HONITON’S long-serving beat manager will no longer be a prominent face on the town’s streets.
PC Ian Atyeo will be leaving his post as the neighbourhood beat manager for the town centre and taking on a new role as a civilian logistics officer at police headquarters.
The announcement was made at a meeting of Honiton Town Council on Monday, where PC Atyeo addressed councillors for the last time.
Councillor Peter Halse said: “We owe a great deal to PC Atyeo for what he has done. He has made the town a better place.”
PC Atyeo said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Honiton. It was not my decision to leave, but I had to look forward to what I could do in the next few years.”
Councillor Vernon Whitlock said: “We are going to greatly miss your policing skills in Honiton.”
