POLICE have discounted claims that thieves are using strips of paper impregnated with drugs to daze victims.

The Herald received a report that a shopper was robbed after accepting an offer to smell perfume.

The incident was alleged to have occurred outside a supermarket in Yeovil, Somerset.

However, a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "It's an urban myth. We are trying to dispel it.
