A period property in Honiton built in 1904 by the Duke of Bedford for his daughter and her rector husband has gone on sale.
The 6-bedroom Old Rectory, in Awliscombe, still contains several period features, such as staff service bells, a wine cellar and working fireplaces.
The Rector’s former parish matters room has been modernised into a south-facing study and servant bedrooms have been converted into the kitchen and children’s bedrooms.
Outside, a stream and wooden gate lead to the church and apple, cherry and pear trees keep the main house well-supplied with fruit.
Owner Martin Staniforth has kept full documentation outlining the history of the house from 1903.
He said: “It’s a very interesting character property. Even the service bells still work in every room.”
The property is being sold by PurpleBricks and is on the market for £865,000.
