HONITON residents' generous response to the Haitian earthquake appeal has heartened members of the town's Rotary Club.
During two collections in Lace Walk, a total of 2,610 was raised.
"The collections were a phenomenal success," said Rotarian Mike Huxtable, who was one of those to make the collections.
"The amount raised is fantastic news. It is enough to pay for six Shelterboxes, with a little bit of money we had in hand."
Mr Huxtable said the Rotary Club of Honiton would like to thank all those who contributed to the collections.
Each Shelterbox will provide tent accommodation and emergency supplies for up to 10 people.
