Applicants Air Westward Ltd will now build the single aircraft storage building on the western side of the airfield.
An application to build a new aircraft hangar in Dunkeswell has been rubber stamped by district planners.
Applicants Air Westward Ltd will now build the single aircraft storage building on the western side of the Dunkeswell Airfield.
The 21.35 x 24.4m building will be constructed between existing storage buildings and will be built with plastic coated galvanised steel sheeting.
In its application, Air Westward said in recent years there has been a ‘substantial increase’ in the number of aircraft needing new storage facilities.
The company said the stress on finding such a facility had been increased with the complete closure of Plymouth Airport, a decrease in hangarage and aircraft storage at Exeter Airport and lack of aircraft storage at Bristol Airport.
They added that Dunkeswell Airfield is drawing in aircraft from a radius of more than 60 miles.
East Devon District Council issued the decision on Monday.
