A dedicated wash and valeting area could be set up at an Axminster supermarket car park if an application gets the go-ahead.

Waves Consultancy Ltd wants to operate the service from nine parking spaces at the town’s Tesco outlet, based in West Street.

The application said: “Although the car wash operates from nine parking spaces, we can wash and valet five to six vehicles at any one time.

“Therefore, the net loss of spaces is only three to four.

“The design allows for both ambulent and disabled to either remain in their vehicle while it is washed or they can leave the vehicle with the operatives and collect upon completing their visit to the store.”

The proposed opening hours for the hand car wash would be 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

The application’s fate will be decided in the future by planners at East Devon District Council.
