Applicants Paul and Greg Layzell want to build the two properties on land to the rear of The Old Court in Dowell Street, which was converted to Layzell Funeral Services.

An application to build two ‘modest size’ homes on land in Honiton has been submitted to East Devon District Council.

Applicants Paul and Greg Layzell want to build the two properties on land to the rear of The Old Court in Dowell Street, which was converted to Layzell Funeral Services.

The application says the land became available when a redundant building on it - namely the former registrars office at The Old Court - was removed. The land had no use in regard to the parlour.

It added: “The two houses will remain in the ownership of the land owner and be rented out.”

The proposed homes will have three bedrooms and offer two parking spaces each.

The application’s fate will be determined by district planners at a later date.
