Five yurts will now installed at the site between Farway and Northleigh.

Plans to transform an agricultural field between Farway and Northleigh into a ‘glamping’ facility have been rubber stamped.

The scheme, which was proposed by Heather and John Lister, of Holnest Farm in Farway, was approved by district planners at a recent meeting.

In their application, the Listers said they wanted to make the field into a ‘modern, rural tourist facility’ for Devon with its roots ‘firmly in the agricultural landscape’.

They added that installing five yurts at their farm will help the ‘enterprise viability’ of their farm, offer a new attraction alongside existing smallholding activities and create new jobs.

District planners approved the plans when members East Devon District Council’s development management committee met recently.

The field will now be adorned with five locally-sourced yurts installed on timber deck platforms.

The scheme will also see existing barns on the site converted into units for cooking, dining and gaming in.
