A change of use application has been submitted to district planners.
Plans have been revealed to transform a former vibrant pub in Honiton into a bed and breakfast.
Mr and Mrs M Jeffries has submitted an application for change of use of the Railway Inn, in Queen Street.
The application said: “The applicant’s daughter operated the restaurant and lived in the flat above with her five children.
“She continues to live in the property and, since the closure of the restaurant, has let the guest rooms on a bed and breakfast basis.”
The reasoning behind the change of use, says the document, is to address the lack of ‘quality bed and breakfast premises within the built-up area’.
The application seeks to rearrange the internal layout of the building to create a larger home and retain the letting rooms.
The pub closed in April this year after generating a loss, and was promptly marketed online for £550,000.
However, according to the planning document, there is ‘little interest’ in it for commercial uses.
