I have only just seen your article in the Midweek Herald of January 9, headlined "Priced out of Car Park?" In this article you referred to parking throughout the town, in Orchard Way, Lilley Walk and Jerrard Crescent, being favourites for people determined to avoid charges. No mention at all was made of the parking in Oaklea which, I believe, is probably the most favoured of all. Not only is it used for daytime parking, but it is also used as a long term car park, some vehicles being parked here permanently, at times not moving for weeks on end. There is also a problem with vehicles being parked at the road junction with Dowell Street, right at the top of the road, making it necessary to exit Oaklea on the wrong side of the road. The council have been petitioned to extend the double yellow lines to prevent this, which was rejected. There is another problem of vehicles being parked on both sides of the road, increasing access problems. D J Davis Oaklea Honiton
