The Neighbourhood Beat Team held a Dog Patrol Morning last Wednesday (January 27) with the Environmental Health, the REACT team, East Devon District Council and the town council.
Dog bags were handed out to residents and advice was given out about not allowing their pets into 'no dogs allowed' areas.
Patrols were carried out in Harepath Road, Valley View, Colyford Road, the beach and Esplanade, at the footpath by the marshes, around Primrose Way, and the town centre.
EDDC and town councillor Jim Knight said: "I was very pleased to be invited to walk around areas of the town with other local authorities. It was evident that most people with dogs are responsible and clear it away.
"However, it was apparent there is still one or two dog owners that do not clear up after their dogs. I feel that this will be achieved through educating dog owners. All I all I feel this operation was a great success."
Pc Roy Hutter said it was an example of Partners and Communities Together (PACT) working to target residents' priorities.
