CRIME has decreased in Seaton from 570 reported incidents last year to 406.

CRIME has decreased in Seaton from 570 reported incidents last year to 406.

Sergeant Richard Stonecliffe revealed the figures during the town council's annual meeting on Monday.

Violent crime has decreased from 91 to 78 cases, domestic burglary from 42 to 23 and criminal damage from 156 to 99.

Sgt Stonecliffe said: "I would like to think it's partly down to our work.

"But it's not a reason to be complacent. We only need one or two active criminals to visit our town for a spell, and those figures can be bumped up considerably."

Other reported crimes includeed nine sexual offences, 65 assaults, one robbery and 41 drug offences.
