Police continue planning for potential incidents of public disorder.

POLICE in Devon are continuing to monitor social networking sites and say positive action will be taken against those inciting or co-ordinating incidents of public disorder.

Devon and Cornwall Constabulary is continuing with its planning for potential public disorder but the region remains free of any incidents.

The force has sent around 80 officers to support Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire and Metropolitan Police forces.

It is also continuing to monitor social media sites and take action where appropriate.

Police have visited and warned a number of individuals about entries posted on social networking sites.

In a statement Devon and Cornwall Constabulary said: “Police intelligence staff are continuing to monitor sites and would reinforce the message that positive action will be taken against those inciting or trying to co-ordinate incidents of public disorder.”

“High visibility policing is also continuing throughout the region and officers continue to speak to communities in a bid to allay anxieties and fears.

“This policing will continue throughout this weekend across the force area.”
