Everyone from PCSOs to sergeants took part in a 12-hour static bike ride to raise valuable funds for Hospiscare and Children with Cancer UK.

Olympian Jo Pavey even stopped by to take part in the effort, which so far has raised £1,800 – with donations still pouring in.

PC Vicky Dixon said the support from the community on the day was ‘absolutely amazing’.

She added: “We chose to support Children with Cancer UK because sergeant Pete Trudgeon is running the London Marathon for them and needs to raise around £2,000 minimum.

“We thought we would support his fundraising total. We supported Hospiscare because some officers in the force are affected by cancer.

“The event showed that we are not just a uniform – we are human.

“It was a great day.”
