‘Policing in Honiton remains well resourced’

Despite tightening finances within the police force Honiton remains well resourced and equipped to respond to incidents 24/7, it has been revealed.

Sergeant Martin Burrow, of Honiton police, reassured members of Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry about policing in the town, last week, when he explained more about the roles played by the different policing teams.

He said: “Finances are tight at the moment and everything is tough but in Honiton we are doing quite well for resources.

“We have three policing teams including response officers, based in Honiton, who respond to all immediate 999 calls. Response times should remain as they always have done.

“We also have CID officers who investigate all crimes reported and my team, the neighbourhood community policing team.” He added: “The police station isn’t always open to the public but the station is resourced 24/7, 365 days a year, and we have always got response capabilities and can still respond to incidents.”

Sergeant Burrow also explained more about the role played by the neighbourhood policing team, who are able to deal with long-running issues within the community and work with other partner agencies to resolve these problems including traffic management, speeding and anti social behaviour.
