Police vans spark fears of major incident

POLICE vans spotted on the A30 travelling towards Honiton last Wednesday were taking part in a training exercise, officers have revealed.

A concerned eyewitness contacted the Midweek Herald at 1.30pm, saying he had spotted three riot vans travelling up the road.

He said: "I was alarmed to see the riot vans flashing in front of me.

"I wondered what was going on and thought it must be a big incident.
