THEFT from motor vehicles is on the increase in Axminster, with five offences reported since November 29.Four out of the five crimes took place at the top end of town - two at Cloakham Lawn, one at Stoney Lane and one in Millwey Rise.One victim had their handbag stolen on a school run when they failed to lock the door, and police are warning people not to leave valuables on display. PC Darren Herridge said: "We have an offender in mind and we are gathering evidence. "But I would reiterate for people not to leave valuable items on display, especially at this time of year. Put them in the boot and lock them away.
