Axminster Royal British Legion women plan to give their Guildhall fund-raiser 'a special twist'

A fashion show with a difference is being planned by the Royal British Legion branch in Axminster

Members of the women’s section say the event at The Guildhall next month will have a special twist.

Secretary Lesley Frankau said the show would be different in that it will include a display of genuine outfits from the 1940s to the 1980s, accompanied by some old newsreels from those bygone days.

In the second half of the evening there will be make-overs by Ricardo, a sale of clothes and accessories and a big raffle with lots of prizes.

The “alternative fashion show” starts at 7pm on Friday, May 10, and tickets can be obtained in advance for £5 each from Archway Bookshop, Axminster, or at the door on the night for £6.

Meanwhile members of the women’s section were busy raising funds at one of their regular coffee mornings and sales at the Church Rooms on Thursday.

Despite the chilly weather there was a steady stream of visitors who kept them busy serving up warming cuppas.
