Tony Simpson died on Saturday, October 14, in Honiton.

A well-known Honiton historian and prominent member of the town’s Senior Voice movement has died.

Tony Simpson died on Saturday, October 14, in Honiton.

Born in Brecon in 1941, Tony was husband to Edna Simpson, father to Owen and Ceri and grandfather to James, Lara and Miles.

Originally from South Wales, where he worked and brought up his family, Tony retired to Honiton in 2005 and from the outset, was an active participant in the community.

He founded the Senior Voice Honiton action group and has campaigned on several local issues, including the closure of beds at Honiton Hospital, and the building of the Beehive. Tony was deeply interested in local history, and researched Honiton’s links to the past, regularly giving talks and presenting his findings.

His family would like to pass on their thanks and gratitude to the local NHS doctors, nurses and carers, and Marie Curie nurses who attended to him.
