POST across the South West Region will be severely disrupted next week as major mail centres and distribution sites in the region co-ordinate their strike action.

Kevin Beazer, SW Regional Secretary of the Communication workers' Union, said today: "The strike action which has been taking place across the UK will dramatically rise next week in our region as mail centre and distribution centres in Bristol, Swindon, Plymouth and Bournemouth co-ordinate their action.

"Thousands of postal workers across the region will walk out in 24 hour strikes. The impact on the regions mail operations will be dramatic and will link in with strike action across the country where around 20,000 postal workers will be taking action."

Kevin added: "Postal workers are not only defending the future of the postal service but also their terms and conditions and jobs, its about time the management stopped bullying the workforce and took a sensible and pragmatic view and negotiate with the Union to move the industry forward.
