Members of Honiton Senior Voice (HSV) were out in force armed with giant postcards to protest against the sell off of Royal Mail.
The giant cards with the message ‘save our Royal Mail’ were posted to Prime Minister David Cameron and local MPs, including Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish.
The chairman of Honiton Senior Voice, Vic Bowsher, said: “As someone who lives in a rural area I know how important Royal Mail is, especially to seniors in more isolated areas.
“We are sending the Prime Minister and our MPs a message that the sell off of Royal Mail is opposed by 67 per cent of the public. Less than five per cent of the public are strongly in favour of this so why is it occurring and who will benefit?”

HSV member Tony Simpson added: “Customers and Royal Mail workers are against this sell off which is also strongly opposed by the National Federation of Sub Post Masters, who have condemned it as ‘a reckless gamble’.
“Many seniors will be affected and free post for HM Forces will also be stopped.

The protest took place last Wednesday outside Honiton Post Office.
