Honiton Dementia Action Alliance (HDAA) has pledged to support more organisations to become dementia aware.

The steering group’s future plans were outlined at its annual general meeting, held in Honiton last week.

Chairman Heather Penwarden said that more information leaflets were set to be produced and that the group intended to add to the 685 ‘dementia friends’ that has already been created.

Mrs Penwarden added: “Honiton Dementia Action Alliance is such a good example of what can be achieved when a community works together on a common cause.

“It openly reflects the warm, generous and inclusive nature of our town and I look forward to welcoming more groups into the alliance over the coming year.”

Neil Parish MP also praised Honiton for its dementia-friendly approach, describing the town as a ‘beacon amongst dementia-friendly communities’.

Anyone who would like to become a dementia friend, or runs an organisation that would like to join HDAA, is asked to email Mrs Penwarden at Penwarden@btinternet.com
