Honiton will see a rise of 2.02 per household per year.

Council tax payers in Honiton are to see an increase in Honiton Town Council’s share of the precept next year.

This is due partly to new pension legislation and devolved responsibilities which have been passed to the town council for road marshalling local events and first stage emergency planning.

The total precept has been increased by 8,350 which means households will see payments increase from 40.55 per year to 42.57 - a rise of 2.02 per household per year.

The decision was ratified by the town council at a meeting on Monday night.

The council emphasised that the increase was not due to development of the Beehive Community Centre, which has already been budgeted for.
