Stockland Academy youngsters get some tips from England International Ashleigh Ball

Enthusiastic hockey players from Stockland Academy got to meet an international star last week.

The pupils travelled to St Peters School in Exeter to watch a highly competitive match between Slough and Exe Hockey Club.

Amongst the many county players was England international Ashleigh Ball, who agreed to have photos taken after the match and answer questions from the boys and girls.

The pupils were able to watch the excellent skills and amazing speed, agility and accuracy of passing between the players.

After the match they also had the opportunity to speak to members of the Exe team and selectors.

Said a spokeswoman for the academy: “It was a brilliant and unforgettable sporting day out, which was immensely enjoyed by the children and parents alike.”

The next fixture at St Peters School is at 1pm on Saturday, November 23, Exe Hockey Club v Gloucester City, and admission is free.
