Axminster youngsters plant ornamental and traditional varieties as well as a special Jubilee Oak
Youngsters at St Mary’s Roman Catholic School in Axminster have been busy planting trees for future generations to enjoy.
A number of them have been bought thanks to a generous donation from a parishioner and a further 80 were supplied by Sainsburys and
The Woodland Trust.
With the help of staff from Tony Benger Landscaping, groups of children helped to plant the trees, some in the new school field and some in the original field.
A few of the trees are ornamental and the rest are traditional varieties, but include one special ‘Jubilee oak’ – which pupils especially look forward to watching grow.
Tony Benger said: “it’s great for the children at St Mary’s to be planting trees for the next generation to enjoy and we were delighted to be involved.”
