Push to improve community services in Honiton

Steering group set up to help improve mental health services for the elderly in Honiton.
COMMUNITY figures in Honiton are looking at ways to develop mental health services for older people in the Honiton.
Town Mayor Vernon Whitlock, Heather Penwarden and Alf Boom from the Memory Cafe and Val Royle from TRIP along with local GP’s have been meeting with NHS Commissioners and health and social care providers to discuss services.
A steering group has been formed following changes at The Bungalow in Honiton and will also include the Ottery St Mary area.
It will be looking at steps to develop community services, identifying local issues and making recommendations on future services in Honiton and Ottery St Mary.
Councillor Vernon Whitlock said: “The formation of the steering group is a positive move forward. Everyone is now working together to develop and improve community services in Honiton and Ottery St Mary.”
