Lyme Regis lays on a boat ride for a party from its French twin town
Eight members of the French branch of the Lyme Regis/Barfleur twinning association spent the bank holiday weekend in the Dorset town, further cementing links across the Channel.
Visitors from the Normandy coastal town, led by their twinning president, Christiane Gancel, began their weekend with a Jurassic Coast boat trip aboard the Sea Spirit with local skipper Alex Jones at the helm.
Two of the French party served with the Barfleur lifeboat and the group were given a tour of the Lyme Regis RNLI station and viewed the charity’s video ‘Mayday.’
Later in the day they heard a demonstration of the Skrabl organ at St Michael’s Parish Church by organist Linda Nicholson.
Dinner at the Hunter’s Lodge Inn, Raymonds Hill, rounded off the day.
On Sunday, the group visited the Abbotsbury Swannery and the nearby sub-tropical gardens. In the evening, the French visitors dined out with their Lyme Regis hosts before returning to France.
