I am a dog owner and, like 95 per cent of owners, I pick up after my dog. I live on the outskirts of Honiton and, when walking my dog in the lanes etc, I still pick up after him. Then I have to walk to the back of Heathfield, which backs onto Hayne Lane

I am a dog owner and, like 95 per cent of owners, I pick up after my dog. I live on the outskirts of Honiton and, when walking my dog in the lanes etc, I still pick up after him. Then I have to walk to the back of Heathfield, which backs onto Hayne Lane, to put it in the dog waste bin, which is the only one at my end of town.I think East Devon District Council should go to the playing field around 7.30am onwards. It is disgusting. By the seats there are broken bottles with glass on the path and, in the grass, take-away food boxes, paper, beer cans, glass, which can cut a dog's paw badly; also if a child fell they would get cut.Everywhere around Honiton it's the same. Where I live, I not only pick up after my dog but after people who don't care what our town and countryside looks like.Today, when walking, I saw a Dyson vacuum cleaner in a ditch, also packaging from a new TV thrown in a lay-by.We are lucky to live where we do. It is beautiful, but a lot of people are making it look like a landfill tip. I think the council should tackle the rubbish that affects everyone and not pick on good dog owners.Where has the pride gone in this country? It is about time it came back.Yvonne CaseHamlet Lodge Weston
