The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has launched its new Hand on Heart campaign and is encouraging people in Honiton to donate their time to the charity.

Volunteers play a vital role in the work of the BHF and their dedication helps save and improve the lives of those affected by heart disease. That's why the nation's heart charity is asking people in Honiton to put their hand on their heart and sign up to support the BHF.

You only have to give the time you can afford - whether it's a regular day a week or a few hours a year - and you can get involved in any way you want, from putting on your own fundraising event to working in a BHF Shop.

By making a gift of time to help, you'll also be giving your own recession-worn spirits a lift. Over 60 per cent say volunteering helps them feel less stressed and nearly half of all volunteers say it has improved their physical health and fitness - making volunteering the perfect antidote to the credit crunch blues.

For more information about volunteering for the nation's heart charity visit bhf.org.uk/volunteer email volunteer@bhf.org.uk or call 0300 4568353, lines are open 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
