Manhunt under way for missing prisoner who has links to the South West. Is he in East Devon?
Police want your help to locate a convicted rapist, who has links to the South West.
Sean Cawthray has absconded from an open prison near Bristol and was last seen at 5.30pm on Sunday, December 30.
He was serving a life sentence, imposed 10 years ago, at HMP Leyhill, in South Gloucestershire.
Police say the 41-year-old has links to the South West, Leicestershire, Yorkshire and London.
He is described as a white, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build with short brown hair and blue eyes.
He was last seen wearing a pair of silver-coloured training shoes, cream-coloured combat trousers and a light blue Helly Hansen-type top.
Police believe he may have been wearing either a worker’s fluorescent jacket, grey jacket with orange patches or a black jacket with a blue patch.
Detective ~Inspector Jill Kells, of South Gloucestershire CID, said: “We are committed to locating, returning to custody and charging anyone unlawfully at large.
“Officers work closely with HMP Leyhill and other police forces to track down absconders promptly and keep any potential risk to the public to a minimum.”
Members of the public are advised not to approach Cawthray and call police immediately on 999.
