Jan Guscott, of Honiton Players, dressed up as the late Juanita Maxwell Phillips, former 11 times Mayor of Honiton, for the event.
She was joined by Tony Simpson and committee members from Honiton Senior Council, ahead of the council's Celebrating Juanita series of events.
Mr Simpson is to lead two talks about Juanita in Honiton on September 3 and 10.
Alderman Phillips secured the field for recreation when the former Allhallows School left Honiton in the 1930s.
The re-enactment took place next to a plaque commemorating her work to secure site for sports use.
