TINA Casson, a teaching assistant at Feniton Primary School, has been named as a star of education in the South West.

TINA Casson, a teaching assistant at Feniton Primary School, has been named as a star of education in the South West.Mrs Casson received a distinction in the TDA Award for Teaching Assistant of the Year at a glittering ceremony, held at the Riviera Centre, Torquay, last week.More than 250 professionals from schools across the region cheered on successful candidates.Caroline Evans, chief executive of the Teaching Awards, said: "I am delighted to congratulate all our award-winners, who deserve every bit of praise and applause."They are real heroes among their colleagues, pupils and parents and now the wider world knows what a difference they make."The Teaching Awards were founded in 1998 by Lord Puttnam CBE.Since their inception, the awards have recognised 110 national winners.Mrs Casson is pictured showing off her engraved glass award to pupils at Feniton Primary School on Monday.
