Police investigate just two reported incidents in February
CRIME figures hit a record low in rural areas around Seaton last month.
With just two recorded incidents, they are 71 per cent down on February of last year, and 80 per cent down on figures for the previous month.
Neighbourhood beat manager, PC Steve Speariett said: “This month’s crime totals are an historic low for the Seaton rural area, the previous lowest monthly total was five crimes in July 2010 and the average for February is 13 crimes.
“The neighbourhood team will continue to work in partnership with the community to maintain the low crime figures.”
Areas included in the statistics are Axmouth, Beer, Branscombe, Colyton, Combpyne and Rousdon, Farway, Northleigh and Southleigh.
The only crimes were recorded last month were an attempted theft from a vehicle near the gold flub at Axmouth and the theft of gardening equipment from sheds in Coly Road at Colyton.
Despite the low crime levels Police are urging residents to remain vigilant.
“If you see any suspicious vehicles or people please call in with the information using the 999 system when appropriate,” added PC Speariett.
