Last fund-raising event of 2010 is a success.

A coffee morning held in Honiton yesterday (Wednesday, December 15) raised £80 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Event organiser Liz Brown, of the charity’s Honiton branch, would like to thank all those who supported her.

She said: “This year, we have sent £5,000 from our Honiton branch, which is a record. I have got to put my thinking cap on so that we can improve on this figure in 2011.”

Mrs Brown added: “In 2011 the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will be heading a multi-dose clinical trial to replace the faulty gene that causes CF with a healthy copy.

“The trust is leading the world with this work and, if successful, has the potential to help stop the lung disease developing that claims 90 per cent of youngsters living with cystic fibrosis.

“That is a massive 90,000 lives globally and money is needed to enable this work to continue, so that suffers may have a better life.”
