Honiton and District Lions Club is celebrating a record year - after raising more than £12,000 for good causes.

In the last year, the club has distributed in excess £11,000 to local groups, organisations, projects and people.

Brian Richards, the new Lions Club president for 2016/17, said: “This is a 25 per cent lift from the past year which the members believed would be difficult to beat.

“Now we really have the wind in our sails, in this our 40th year serving Honiton town, we are going all out again to beat this figure.”

Lion Tom Boucher, the club’s welfare champion, added “I am as busy as I have ever been - it’s like being back at the office again!

“It gets the adrenalin going, but at the end of the day you get a pleasure of accomplishment, assisting people in the local community.

“We would like to thank everyone who contributed and assisted in helping us to help you.”
