SEATON residents have called on the town council not to move the Tourist Information Centre to the town hall.

SEATON residents have called on the town council not to move the Tourist Information Centre to the town hall.

During the council's monthly meeting on Monday, November 16, Carol Manley said such a move could make funding for the centre more difficult.

She said: "I feel it would complicate matters to have the TIC in situ with the town hall."

She also requested the council put its agendas on a website.

Tony Hill, who described himself as an accommodation provider, added: "I ask the council not to make hasty decisions on the move of the TIC."

Councillors were to discuss options for the relocation of the TIC in private. According to the agenda, they were to decide on an interim solution until the Visitor Centre is built, after EDDC announced its decision to terminate the town council's lease on the current premises.

Councillor Peter Burrows asked for the matter to be discussed in public, but town clerk David Mears said it was an issue that affected the council's staff.

TIC manager Karen Chipperfield was present for the discussion, which had been deferred from last month. The outcome has yet to be released.
