Police issue warning to prevent ‘walk in burglaries’ during the warmer weather.
Members of the public are being urged to make sure their property is secured during the warmer weather.
Police have issued the warning in a bid to prevent ‘walk in burglaries’ where thieves can enter open windows or doors.
Figures show that 62 per cent of recorded dwelling burglaries were as a result of offenders taking advantage of unsecured windows and doors.
Acting Detective Sergeant Adrian Hawkins said: “At this time there has not been a considerable rise in the number of burglaries taking place but by taking action to secure your property you vastly decrease the chances of becoming a victim of crime.
“There is no need for members of the public to be overly concerned but by taking simple action they can ensure the safety of their property.
“Please check that all doors remain locked and secure, take time to assess the security of your homes.”
