Residents urged to pay for clock repairs

Cost of two stamps per person could pay for it.
Thanks are due to Peter Burrows for responding to the dismay of the people of Seaton at the prospect of our much-loved Jubilee clock falling into disrepair and disuse.
Your article (August 17) does not say how the work is to be paid for. Could I suggest Mr Burrows ask for public donations? Just £1 from each resident (the cost of two first-class stamps, or an ice-cream) would not be missed and should cover it.
