Retiring after 45 years in business

AFTER being in business in Honiton for 45 years, Maria Selway is to retire later this week. Mrs Selway, 62, of Just Cards, in High Street, is looking forward to spending more time with her family.
AFTER being in business in Honiton for 45 years, Maria Selway is to retire later this week.Mrs Selway, 62, of Just Cards, in High Street, is looking forward to spending more time with her family. She also intends to travel and learn a new language.John and Maggie Wynn have bought the business and will be at the helm from May 6. Mrs Selway officially retires on Saturday, May 3.She was first in business with PL Selway newsagent's shop, originally located at 19 High Street.After 16 years at that address, the business moved to 119 High Street, where it stayed for five years.Just Cards has been at 117 High Street for 24 years."I'm looking forward to enjoying all the things I haven't been able to do because I've been working," Mrs Selway told the Herald."When I had the newsagent's business, I worked very long hours."I'll miss my staff as they have been wonderful. "They have stood by me through all sorts, including the death of my husband. They have been with me through thick and thin."Customers, who have been loyal over many decades, will be most keenly missed. "It will be strange without them, after all this time," said Mrs Selway.She would like to wish Mr and Mrs Wynn every success in their new venture.
