AXE Valley and West Dorset Ring and Ride is appealing for funds to buy a bus.

AXE Valley and West Dorset Ring and Ride is appealing for funds to buy a bus.

The registered charity, which runs community transport for the East Devon and West Dorset areas, hopes to raise 35,000 and save on bus hire.

People such as the elderly, disabled, parents with young children or people living in isolated areas, can benefit from the door-to-door service.

Sandra Ward, from the Ring and Ride, said: "The Ring and Ride provide an essential service for those wishing to lead independent lives in their own homes.

"We provide friendship to those isolated because of location or because they live alone and cannot get out to see people easily. And, most importantly, we provide our local area with a door to door bus service at an affordable price.

"Most of our passengers say they couldn't manage without us. Help us continue with this most vital service to some of the most vulnerable people in our area."

Morning shopping trips include Axminster, Bridport, Honiton, Sidmouth and Chard, at 4.

There is also a Passenger Club for each zone, offering a weekly afternoon trip and a day trip on every third Saturday. Subscription is 3 and visits range from Lynmouth to Poole.
