A 20-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and shoplifting at Musbury Garage.
The woman has since been released pending further enquiries relating to the incident on Saturday, March 28, at 6.36pm.
A woman is alleged to have used a wooden pole, believed to be a broom handle, to threaten a member of staff and demanded cash and cigarettes.
Sergeant Peter Trudgeon said: "We are expecting a positive outcome. We want to see justice being done. To go into a place, threatening to steal, is disgusting behaviour - particularly when there was a lone member of staff."
One part of the till draw was taken and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. There was also a field party held nearby and police are asking if they saw anybody in the area.
Anyone with information should call 08452 777 444, quoting log number 919 28/03/09.
