Big top skills to feature at Primary school’s popular annual fundraiser

Seaton Primary School is busy preparing for one of the highlights of its year – the annual summer fete.

The event takes place from 2pm, on Saturday, July 8, and there will be a circus theme for the day.

Pupils were invited to design an appropriate front cover for the programme and the winner was Isabelle Hilton, aged nine.

Her drawing was chosen from more than 300 entries across all year groups by Parent, Teacher Association representative Louise Hancock, who project-managed the programme from start to ?nish.

Louise said: “There were some fantastic entries and it was clear to see that all the children had put in a lot of effort into their designs.

”It was really difficult to choose a winner but Isabelle’s design stood out for being so colourful and full of life. The fete promises a fun-packed day for all the family with free entry and free bouncy castles for the children to enjoy.”

During the day, Circus Polly will be teaching the children some amazing circus skills thanks to a generous donation from Lyme Bay Holidays.

There will also be dynamic displays from Seaton Majorettes, East Devon Dance Academy, Seaton School of Dance, Seaton Martial Arts Group and JM Dance Fit. As well as a variety of stalls to browse, there will be a range of local food and drink available to purchase, including cider from Lyme Bay Winery, a barbecue and freshly made pizzas cooked to order.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of local businesses and organisations this year with more than 40 fantastic prizes donated for our grand raf?e,” said Marie Bower, PTA secretary.

“We would like to thank Signs Southwest for donating an eye-catching advertising banner, Seaton Design and Print for putting together the programme and all of our advertising sponsors.

“Lastly, we must thank all of the parent and teachers who have signed up to help on the day, without whom the fete simply could not go ahead.”

Visitors on the day are advised to look out for the colouring competition in the programme with a chance to win one of four vouchers to spend at the Owl and Pyramid bookshop in Seaton.
