Rotarians raise £800 for hospital

HONITON Hospital Fete went ahead, as planned, this year, but in an alternative location. Development of the hospital's grounds could mean the fete will never return to its traditional venue.

HONITON Hospital Fete went ahead, as planned, this year, but in an alternative location.Development of the hospital's grounds could mean the fete will never return to its traditional venue.The alternative fete, held outside St Paul's Church, was organised by the Rotary Club of Honiton, in conjunction with the hospital league of friends and Honiton and District Lions Club.All those who participated in the event agree it was well worth the effort.Rotarians, who instigated fundraising for the hospital half a century ago, earlier this week handed over the proceeds of their efforts.A cheque for £800 was presented to Vic Bowsher, chairman of Honiton Hospital League of Friends, by fete co-ordinator Dr Jeremy Gibson and Jim Thomas, president of Honiton Rotary Club.The presentation took place at Honiton Motel on Monday.
