Civic welcome for fund-raisers.
Mountain leaders from the Royal Marines have roller skied into Honiton to a civic welcome.
The group is part-way through a 1,000 mile roller ski, from John O’ Groats to Land’s End, in aid of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
The charity needs to raise £6 million by 2014.
Councillor Vernon Whitlock, the Mayor of Honiton, met the skiers earlier today (Wednesday) outside St Paul’s Church with Alan Rowe MBE, founder of the Baton charity.
The Baton, which carries a non-political message of support for service personnel and their families, was handed to the marines for them to take on their journey.
Members of the public met the team and showed their support by visiting a fund-raising stall beside Honiton’s war memorial.
