Honiton woman still determined to reach her goal of raising 2,000 for charity.

A MARATHON runner from Honiton has set her sights on competing in Paris and says she is still determined to reach her goal of raising 2,000 for charity.

Carolyn Asher, of Meadows Crescent, is preparing to run the Paris marathon on April 15 in aid of Get Kids Going - a national charity helping disabled children and young people to participate in sport by providing specially built wheelchairs.

She had set herself a number of challenges including running a marathon in five hours or less, raising 2,000 for charity and finding full-time employment, which she hoped to complete by her 50th birthday.

However, she has faced a few hurdles along the way - her Job Seeker’s Allowance was removed after she took part in the New York marathon in 2010 for charity.

She told the Midweek Herald: “I still want to raise 2,000 for Get Kids Going. I haven’t completed what I set out to do,”

She added: “In these situation we shouldn’t lose sight of our goals even if it takes us a bit longer to get there.”

The issue with Job Centre Plus has yet to be resolved and Carolyn is due to meet Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish to discuss the matter.

Carolyn has already run more than 10 marathons and has competed in the London marathon six times.
