A LYME Regis teenager is to take on the challenge of his life by climbing Kilimanjaro in aid of charity.Ryan Turner, 17, of King's Way, will make the trip in October to raise money for Unicef. The Woodroffe School student will travel with Discover Adventure on the 10-day trek to the highest point in Africa, at 5,895 metres, after being inspired by a TV programme.Ryan says he wanted to do something for a good cause and was spurred on by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's Long Way Down trip in aid of the same charity.Ryan said: "I will be travelling with a group but I don't know the people. I'm not scared yet but I expect I will be nearer the time." On Good Friday (April 10) at The Inn Place, Lyme Regis, two events will be held in aid of Ryan's challenge. At 2pm cream teas will be served. Then, at 8.30pm, an auction will be held with BBC's Graham Barton. Prizes include a signed copy of Long Way Down and meals for two.To sponsor Ryan, visit www.justgiving.com/2009
