RNLI experts pass on some life-saving tips to members of the Axe Yacht Club ahead of their new season

Axe Yacht Club members got a few tips on how to stay safe on the water this summer – and then gave their advisors a useful “tip” in return.

Richard Finch and Andy Truscott, two of the RNLI’s volunteer experts, were at the club’s sea safety day in Axmouth yesterday (Sunday), offering advice to members as they prepared to launch for the new sailing season.

And in return, the yacht club’s training officer, Eddie Burrows, handed them a cheque for 110 for lifeboat funds.

Mr Finch, from Lyme Regis, said: ”The sort of questions we dealt with were: “what flares do we need”?; “do I have the right means to call for help”? and “will my lifejacket work if I need it”?
