Sanatas galore at Honiton Christmas Carnival

A FAMILIAR face greeted late night shoppers in Honiton Santa! Not just THE Santa, but lots of merry impostors and helpers too.

A FAMILIAR face greeted late night shoppers in Honiton - Santa!Not just THE Santa, but lots of merry impostors and helpers too.They were in town to help Honiton and District Carnival mark its second festive procession and to boost support for the town's late night shopping event.The well-supported occasion attracted more than 20 carnival entries.Circuit winner Sidvale CC was in the line-up with a Christmas version of Mickey's Express, along with most of East Devon's mighty contenders.At a participants' party, held afterwards at the Royal British Legion club, in Dowell Street, Colyton's Nymphos took the only prize of the night - the Spirit of Carnival award.Carnival chairman Bill Austin was pleased with the public's response to the event.He said: "It went very well indeed. We took £604 in donations and a raffle afterwards raised another £160."More than 180 tickets were sold for the after-carnival party.
